During its August 10, 2026 meeting, the Las Trampas Land Grant Board initiated an annual Land Grant Cleanup Day to pick up litter that people dump in various places throughout the Land Grant. One of our members, Randy Tafoya, reported that a make-shift dump was being formed in an arroyo along Highway 76, just up the hill from the Las Trampas canoa. During discussion, the Board decided that we should not rely on the Forest Service to clean up our Land Grant. Refuse is being dumped by locals in various places within the Land Grant. Board Member, Kathryn Vigil, volunteered to take the lead on establishing an annual cleanup day to cleanup of our forests. The first annual cleanup day focused on cleaning the makeshift dump reported by Randy.
The first annual Cleanup Day was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came and helped us take care of our Land Grant.
