Leñeros earn up to $1,200 per 1-acre unit, plus firewood

Las Trampas Land Grant Leñero program consists of 70 units of primarily piñon and juniper thinning south of the Vallecitos Road and north of the County Landfill. See map.

Leñeros will be paid per one-acre lot based on completion time and approval by the Mayordomo:

• Within 90 days: $1,200 plus all harvested wood
• Within 120 days: $800 plus all harvested wood
• Beyond 120 days: $600 plus all harvested wood

If the Forest Service closes access due to fire hazard, closure days will not count toward completion time.

Training Requirements
The Mayordomo will determine required training and necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Training may include direct instruction or working alongside an experienced leñero.

Eligibility
Leñeros must be at least 18 years old.
